One of my favorite Christmas carols is the Little Drummer Boy. It is a tender story about a boy giving what he can, even if it was a meager offering. It was the simple childlike gift of the boy’s playing his drums that touched the heart of Mary.
The lyrics of the song captures the timeless message of Christmas which is giving the gift of ourselves which comes from the heart. Sharing our countless blessings and talents keep alive the spirit of Christmas 365 days of the year.
In whatever role in life that we assume, the story of the little drummer boy is a constant reminder that the finest gift we can ever offer to Our Lord and to all mankind is “me for what I am blessed with to share. ”
