I was requested to run for re-election. I guess I must be doing my part in supporting the BOT if i was requested to run for re-election.
a. Why are you running for AAA’s BOT?
I was requested to run for re-election. I guess I must be doing my part in supporting the BOT if i was requested to run for re-election.
b. What do you think you can contribute to the AAA Board (or to the AAA)?
For the past 3 years (going on 4 years due to the pandemic), I have contributed my time and effort to the projects of the AAA, supporting the different committees, helping in whatever way I can to help the Board achieve its goals and directives. I will continue to do so.
c. What gifts have you received from the Assumption and how have you used them to give back to AC or the bigger community?
1. Spirituality – Working in Assumption has brought me back to a community where prayer and spirituality are strong and such a big part of everyday life. I like Sister Ana Melocoton, the spiritual adviser to the Board, and enjoy listening to her prayers, reflections and wise words.
I also enjoy getting to know the other Sisters and taking part in the masses the Board plans. I feel that these bring out in a person such a love for the Lord, Mama Mary, St Marie Eugenie and makes one want to share this with others.
2. Friendship and acceptance – I believe I am the first member of the AAA who is not an alumna of the high school but rather an alumna of the college. By God’s grace and maybe from having Assumptionista sisters in law, and having many friends from Assumption, I got elected to the Board in 2017. From day one, I was easily accepted by the different members of that Board. I enjoy the friendship and camaraderie. And this I believe is so important if we are to have an “Assumption Together” as the Sisters and different groups within Assumption are trying to achieve. This AAA Board members have been all encompassing and accepting of me, and I hope that the future Board members will continue to be so to future Board member who are only “college” alumnae.
3. Dedication to the school – For almost 4 years, I have been part of a respectable group of alumnae of different ages and I am inspired by the way each one gladly gives of herself to the “team”. All done in humility and out of respect for each other. Everyone gives of themselves joyfully without counting costs. And everyone is proud of Assumption, wanting to give back in their small way whatever blessings they have received from the school. Working with the AAA Board makes me take pride that i too am an Assumptionista, even if only from the college.

I am running for 3 reasons. First, I am grateful. Grateful for all of life’s blessings, graces and gifts. So, I am “paying it forward”; sharing and doing what I can to make our corner of the world a better place for those who are not as blessed. Second, I am proudly an Assumptionist. This is what we were taught, this is what we do: to be women of faith and action. And through acts great or small, I try to live by what I learned in Antipolo and San Lorenzo. And lastly, I have been a part of the AAA Board and I know there is still much that we can do as alumnae to transform lives. And what I can do to serve, I gladly offer.

2. What can you contribute to the AAA Board or to the AAA?
I can contribute project and team management skills learned from running projects that have ranged from local marketing campaigns, national socio-civic electoral programs, religious and cultural fund-raising projects, global product development and launches. My former work in Marketing and Sales and my volunteer work in the arts, religious and socio-political genres have equipped me to conceptualize ideas and more importantly, to transform those ideas into plans that give birth to action and implementation. I can also contribute with passion, conviction and most importantly, I try to enjoy and help others enjoy as well while “working”. I try not to take myself too seriously no matter how serious the cause or how large the challenges. Enjoying what one does makes the process of “working” so much more fulfilling!
3. What gifts have you received from the Assumption and how have you used them to give back to AC or the bigger community?
My Assumption education is the gift that never stops giving. It has shaped my mind to help me collaborate with some of the greatest minds in the local and global marketing, PR and communications industries. In my socio-civic activities, it has given me confidence to liaise, plan and implement projects with social luminaries, politicians, clergy, parish laity, local government representatives and volunteers from all walks of life. More importantly, my education has given me faith and belief that if we try and try and try again, we “can move mountains!” and make things happen. It is that combination of skills and faith-filled conviction that allows me to advocate for AAA projects such as the recent online art auction, MagnificART, which raised funds for the organization during the pandemic. I try to utilize the same gifts of skill, faith and passion in other religious and socially-oriented projects that I am involved in and in everything I do. For everything that Assumption has formed in me, I am “Proud to be!” (That is the batch slogan and battlecry of my batch, HS 83!).
In ending, these questions were really hard to answer. Mea culpa if the answers all sound so self-serving! But one of the best gifts of the Assumption education is to answer wholeheartedly when we are called to serve. And when we do answer, we give our very best….and to God we leave the rest!

Aside from the fact that I was positively influenced by my very good friend, Tina Arrozal-Garcia, I came to realize that the talents and resources that I have can be put to better use and hopefully, produce greater impact by joining an organization whose cause and vision is towards social transformation.

Having been in the corporate world for almost 40 years, rose the corporate ladder to my current post and focused 15 years of those in learning, training and development for the various layers of talents in my current organization; I can share my expertise in planning, design and implementation of projects and programs. c. What gifts have you received from the Assumption and how have you used them to give back to AC or the bigger community?
I am blessed to have benefitted from the AC education that is holistic and a community that supports and recognizes the talents and abilities of its students. Seeing it now from the lens of career persona/ professional, I would like to optimize the AAA BOT platform to reach out and give back to AC while optimizing and leveraging on the resources of the AC graduates.
