MELY DIAZ REMEMBERS

Sr Regivic came to San Lorenzo after I had  graduated so I didn’t know her as Teacher or Principal. I met her when Baby Herrera invited me to join the Lay Formation Team in 2010;

Sr Regivic was the  Mother Superior of the Team.  My role was to lead the team in creating souvenirs for the Assumption Together Congresses. The most memorable was the first in 2010 when the General Council led by Superior General Sr Diane Wauters came for their Canonical Visit.  Our souvenir was a mosaic of the Congress logo. We set up a workshop in campus. Each was responsible for completing 1 mosaic. The formidable and intimidating Sr Regivic showed up on the first day. All anxiety about working with her vanished when she walked in, smiling her radiant impish smile, with her unbelievably deep dimples, and asked “where do I sit?”

I then had opportunity to work with Sr Regivic in the President’s Council of Assumption College.  Among the many responsibilities given to her was Archivist of the province. Anyone visiting her in the Archives would know what it means to have a neat office. Everything was in its proper place, which I think is how her mind, her brain was also organized, with absolutely no clutter. But with her, order and logic coexisted with keen sensibilities.  She could empathize with a brilliant visionary like Dr Pinky Valdes, as well as a new teacher fresh out of school and still searching. Both the visionary College President and the Proby had in Sr Regivic a mentor and guide.

Sr Regivic brought Marie Eugenie to life for us. She shared many stories, delivered without drama or fanfare. Her delivery was almost a monotone, one had to listen closely; and always, our hearts were moved.
