In 2025, the Catholic Church celebrates a Jubilee Year—a sacred season of renewal, hope, and fresh starts. Embracing this spirit of “Pilgrims of Hope,” last March 1, the 2025 AAA Board of Trustees ushered in a season of fresh beginnings by hosting the First Saturday Rosary of Assumption Together. Before leading the prayers, AAA President Dette de la Fuente-Aruego (ACHS 1992) introduced the 2025 Board of Trustees, reaffirming their commitment to the AAA’s vision: strengthening our faith, forming deeper personal connections, and serving others through concrete action. She encouraged everyone to join the AAA’s upcoming programs—from faith-enriching initiatives to community outreach and fundraising for Assumption’s Center for Transformative Education or Mission Schools.
The rosary was specially offered for the repose of Sr. Regivic’s soul, as well as for “new beginnings” unfolding in the Assumption community. On that note, Ms. Grace Magtaas, Principal of Assumption Antipolo for 12 years, was warmly welcomed as the new Province Representative to the Council of Assumption Together, succeeding Ms. Inez Polotan after her six devoted years of leadership. After a few words from Ms. Grace, those gathered also met the newly appointed Asia Pacific Province Provincial Council, led by Provincial Superior Sr. Mary Ignatius “Migs” Vedua. Sr. Migs introduced herself, highlighting the scripture passage that guides her vocation and gently reminding everyone that, beyond credentials, it is “who we become through our service” that truly matters. The other three members of the Provincial Council—Sr. Irene, Sr. Marijo, and Sr. Vicenta—likewise introduced themselves and shared their “Word.”
Before starting the rosary, Sr. Migs led the Old Girls in a reflective moment of Christian meditation, silently praying “Maranatha” (“Come, Lord”) to center their hearts. Nearly a hundred sisters and Old Girls—from Manila, North America, and various parts of the Philippines, joined together in prayer——a powerful testament to the unity and hope that springs forth when we come together in faith.
