SISTERS IN SPIRIT. SISTERS IN PLAID.

PROLOGUE BY MONETTE QUIOGUE | Batch 1986

Sisters. There are those with whom we share a family and those we choose. We may not share DNA, but we share history, experiences, and memories. These are the sisters who share our hearts, our values, our faith, and yes, even our fate.

Four decades ago, our destinies intertwined as we donned those plaid skirts and sailor blouses, stepping through the hallowed gates of San Lorenzo. That day, life as we knew it changed forever. Our lives and our hearts are forever bound together.

Sisters. They’ve seen it all, heard it all, and lived it all with you. They watched you grow from a girl into a young woman, dreaming your dreams and making them come true, no matter the obstacles. They’ve stood by your side through heartaches and heartbreaks, triumphs and losses.

They’ve witnessed your transformation, your journey to become the best version of yourself.

And they’ve loved and accepted every version, every step of the way. Because that’s what sisters do. That’s what we do. We are Assumption San Lorenzo High School Batch 1986. A power greater than ourselves brought us together, and a bond stronger than any of us keeps us united. The Power of Plaid is more than just the theme of our silver Velada. It is the force that courses through our veins and beats in our hearts for each other. The Power of Plaid unites us not only every five years but through life’s ups and downs—birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, defeats, sickness, and funerals. We live the Power of Plaid that was born in Assumption San Lorenzo and continues to reside within each of us.

We are and will always be the sisters in plaid of ACHS Batch 1986. We may not be sisters by birth, but we are sisters by choice. Sisters cherished and treasured. Today and every day.
