October Editorial: Threads of the Same Heart.
Decades may pass and stories may change, but the Assumption heart beats with the same enduring love and light.
Today, as we celebrate this year’s Silver Jubilarians — High School Class of 2000 — we’re reminded that their Assumption journey began just as the world itself was shifting.
The Industrial Age had passed, and the Information Age (one digital day at a time) was taking center stage — an era when knowledge, technology, and connection became the new engines of progress. From the buzz of dial-up to the hum of Wi-Fi, from floppy disks to the limitless cloud, and now into the dawn of Artificial Intelligence, their story has unfolded side by side with a world in transformation.
Our homecoming traditions, too, have reflected these times. Just five years ago, at the height of the pandemic, High School Class of 1995, then Silver Jubilarians, brought Velada online for the very first time — transforming living rooms into stages and screens into spaces of grace. Their courage and creativity proved that the Assumption spirit transcends distance and disruption. Today, as we gather once again in person — with song, dance, laughter, and a renewed sense of sisterhood — we celebrate not just a return, but a renaissance.
Like the technologies that mark each era, our AC Gals have evolved — ever adaptive, ever inspired, ever forward. Across decades and disciplines, they have shaped communities, built bridges, and led with compassion — showing that the Assumption woman remains steadfast, faith-filled, and future-ready.
In a year aptly described as one of Faith, Action, and Renewal, President Dette Aruego reminded us that “our strength isn’t measured by numbers or events — it’s measured by heart. And the Assumption heart beats strong.” Her message during Old Girls’ Day 2025 painted a portrait of what collective love can build — nearly PHP 10 million reaching seven mission schools from Luzon to Mindanao, homes rebuilt for our Sisters, literacy nurtured through Read to Achieve, and communities strengthened by education. It was a year not of transactions, but of transformation — proof that when Assumption women come together, generosity becomes grace in motion. With new trustees joining the fold and lives touched across the islands, the AAA continues to move forward — grounded in faith, guided by service, and ever renewed by purpose.
This October, we honor all our celebrating gems — from the trailblazing Platinum Class of 1955 to the radiant Silver Class of 2000 — each one a keeper of tradition, a bearer of legacy, and a storyteller of grace.
The Platinum Class of 1955 shines with seventy trailblazing years of faith and fortitude — the pioneers who paved the path for generations of AC Gals to follow. High School 1960, our Blue Diamonds, continue to dazzle with 65 years of grace and grit, reminding us that strength can sparkle quietly. The Diamond Jubilarians of 1965 mark sixty years of enduring faith and friendship, their brilliance reflecting the light of lives well-lived. High School 1970, our Emeralds, celebrate 55 years of evergreen friendship — bonds that have only grown richer with time. High School 1975, the Golden Jubilarians, carry the glow of fifty luminous years — a legacy of wisdom, warmth, and laughter gilded by experience.
The Sapphire Class of 1980 sparkles with 45 years of loyalty and laughter, testifying to friendships that glorify God in joy and unity. High School 1985, our radiant Rubies, mark forty years of resilience and radiance — the fire in their hearts shining as brightly as ever. High School 1990, the Jade Jubilarians, celebrate 35 years of sisterhood that remains unbreakable, grounded, and strong as stone. High School 1995, our graceful Pearls, gleam with thirty years of strength, grace, and a spirit that has come full circle — ever faithful, ever refined. And finally, our Silver Jubilarians from High School 2000 bring their own Y2K sparkle to the milestone — twenty-five years of reconnection, rediscovery, and reaffirmation that sisterhood never goes out of style. Their college counterparts, College Class of 2000, shine just as bright — their Silver Streaks of friendship and laughter bridging the classroom to the community with joy that never wanes.
As we close this year’s celebration, we turn the page toward the next chapter. Our Alumna in Focus, Dr. Ishka Que of High School Class 2001, stands as both inspiration and invitation — where science meets grace, and compassion becomes cure. Her story reminds us that healing is both art and calling, and through her courage, the heart of Assumption beats stronger. As Ishka steps into her purpose, she also opens the threshold for her very own batch — next year’s Silver Jubilarians — to walk the #RoadToVelada2026 with faith, passion, and heart.
Every gem tells a story. Every story shines with purpose. And through each, we remember this truth — while times change, the Assumption spirit endures: ever connected, ever home.
