From Tee to Togetherness: Celebrating Community on the Greens!
AAA’s 24th Golf Tournament. Uniting friends, families, and fairways in perfect harmony.
Indeed, it was a tee-rific time! The Assumption Alumnae Association teed off another unforgettable golf tournament, at the beautiful fairways of Sta. Elena Golf Club last 11 August 2025, comprising of more than 200 contenders. As always, the event was all about camaraderie, fairways, and a whole lot of fun! Laughter echoed from every green, golf carts zipped with joyful energy, and spirited cheers filled the air as alumnae, friends, and family came together for a day that was more than just about birdies, par, and bogeys (sometimes double) – it was about community, connection, and celebrating life in full swing!
The annual golf tournament continues to be a cherished
tradition of the AAA—more than a celebration of sportsmanship and camaraderie, it is also a meaningful way to raise funds for advancing education through scholarships, teacher development, and support for our Centers for Transformative Education (Assumption Mission Schools). None of this would be possible without our generous sponsors and our loyal and new players. Year after year, partners from diverse industries have stood by us with unwavering support, fueling the success of this meaningful fundraising event and strengthening the bonds that keep our community thriving.
As players signed up and waited for the shotgun tee-off, they enjoyed coffee and doughnuts courtesy of Krispy Kreme. And no less than Lily Chan (HS 1970), Gretchen Ocampo Recto (HS 1980) and Tessa Prieto (HS 1981) — AC Old Girls through and through — launched the tournament with the ceremonial tee-off, setting the tone for a day of fun and friendly competition.
As the last putts dropped and the morning’s games wrapped up, the players headed indoors for an afternoon of camaraderie, celebration, and gratitude. Following an exciting morning of golf, players and guests gathered for a festive program hosted by the dynamic duo, Ana De Villa Singson and Pudgy Carcereny Garcia, whose joyful and engaging exchanges kept the mood light and the laughs coming.
Sister Ana Melocoton, r.a. opened the program with an invocation that reminded everyone of the deeper purpose behind the day’s excitement. Beyond the swings, tee-offs, and friendly competition lies a mission to serve. Her words grounded the event in gratitude, inspiring all to see each stroke on the green as a step toward something that is truly life-changing.
After Sr. Ana’s heartfelt opening prayer, AAA President Dette Aruego took the stage to welcome everyone. In her remarks, she expressed deep appreciation for the tournament’s steadfast sponsors and supporters—some of whom have been with the AAA for years. While plates were filled and conversations flowed, the screens lit up with the names of the lucky pre-drawn raffle winners. Cheers and applause punctuated the meal as players claimed exciting prizes from our generous sponsors, including Island Gas, adidas, Browhaus, Strip, Seaoil, Tsokolateria, Luisita Rum, and more. Special thanks also went out to alumnae whose contributions added to the excitement of the event: Nena Vargas Tantoco, Pilar Prieto Lorenzo, Gretchen Ocampo Recto, and Lizette Cojuangco. Lisa Lorenzo Uy’s Food for the Gods and Jenny Santos Silayan’s Sugarbee treats made the afternoon even sweeter.
The excitement ramped up with the presentation of Special Prizes, where winners were recognized for their unique flair and early-bird spirit. The “Early Bird Award Winners” were Enrico Garcia for the Male Category and Vicky Ledesma Tanchanco for the Female Category. The “Most Fashionable Award” went to Bob Sarangay for the Male Category and Tessa Prieto for the Female Category, both turning the fairways into their personal runway while showcasing their unique golf style. Each walked away with prizes from 3 Strokes. Tessa, who has been our consummate Old Girl of style and generosity — stayed on to help award the “Fun Hole winners”. These players showed exceptional skill in challenges like Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive, and Nearest the Line.
In between awards, raffle excitement kept the crowd on their toes. From practical golf gear to high-value gift certificates, stunning art pieces, and luxury items, each winner walked away with a smile. Highlights included paintings from art19b, Miladay gold hoops, and kitchen and home must-haves from Ninja, and Old Girls’ Gretchen Ocampo Recto and Joanna Stuart.

The suspense peaked, with the announcement of the Overall Champions:
They each received not only a gleaming trophy but also premium golf vouchers from Subic International Golf Club, the perfect reward for their stellar performances on the greens.
Finally, the major raffle draw brought the afternoon to a thrilling close, with big-ticket prizes including a Samsung 50″ Crystal UHD TV from legACy’92, a Dell Latitude laptop from Abbe Technologies, and a Carrier air conditioner from Concepcion Industries Corporation. And in a surprise twist—since no hole-in-one was scored—the coveted Carrier Slim worth PHP 125,000 was raffled off, sending one lucky player home with the ultimate prize.
As the program wound down, the Same Day Edit video played, capturing the spirit of the tournament in vivid snapshots—swings, smiles, and shared moments that perfectly summed up the day. And of course, no one went home empty-handed. Every player received a loot bag brimming with treats and essentials from our generous partners—a perfect way to cap off an unforgettable day.
The annual AAA Golf Tournament would not be possible without the unwavering generosity of our sponsors, whose support spans industries and years of partnership. From tournament hole sponsors to prize donors, each contribution has helped make this event a success—not just on the greens, but in the lives of those we serve through our fundraising projects.
