FABULOUS JADES!
THE CLASS OF HS 1979!

Velada Homecoming is more than just a gathering; it is the parting gift our Alma Mater oers, a precious token that continues to give long after we leave the four walls of the campus. This event serves as a beautiful reminder of our shared history and the values instilled in us during our formative years. Each reunion brings us together, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and service that not only benets our school but enriches our own lives as well.

Every ve years, we come together, lled with anticipation and excitement. The countdown to Velada is marked by the shared memories of laughter, friendship, and the joy of reconnecting with those who walked alongside us during our high school journey.

For two months leading up to Velada, we dive into preparations with gusto. Rehearsing dance routines becomes a highlight of our journey, as we channel our inner teenagers to “dance the night away” just like we did back in the day. It’s all about embracing that youthful spirit and having a blast! And let’s not forget our older AC sisters, who show us that feeling fabulous on the dance oor knows no age limit. Their grace and vitality inspire us, demonstrating how we can embrace our fabulous selves on the dance floor, regardless of the years that have passed.

Their energy and grace inspire us to let loose and enjoy every moment, proving that we can still shine brightly no matter how many birthdays we’ve celebrated. We always begin with a small number of us wanting to participate because rest of all, majority have 2 left feet. Second, schedule for practices can be demanding. As practices go by, more and more come to join and just enjoy. It’s the stress reliever we all need from or our daily routine! We laugh. We reminisce. We eat ! Thank you Maribeth Bichara, our choreographer, who knows our capabilities and limitations. She’s journeyed with us since our Silver Homecoming.

Beyond the dancing and reminiscing, we know that we are also celebrating our mission. This is our chance to come together and brainstorm ways to support the Assumption mission schools. Each reunion reminds us of the core values we learned during our time at school: integrity, compassion, and a commitment to making a dierence. We roll up our sleeves, engage in lively discussions, and devise plans to ensure that future generations benet from the same transformative education we were fortunate enough to receive.

As we engage in discussions and initiatives aimed at enhancing the mission schools, we often feel a deep sense of gratitude. We recognize how fortunate we are to have this tradition, which fosters a sense of continuity and belonging. Velada reminds us that our time at Assumption was not merely a chapter in our lives; it is part of a larger narrative that continues to unfold, connecting us to one another and to the generations that follow.

Looking forward to 2029, when we will return as radiant red rubies, symbols of the strength and richness of our shared experiences. Velada will once again serve as a reminder of our roots, honoring the legacy of our Alma Mater while allowing us to contribute to its ongoing mission.

So, let’s embrace the joy of this incredible tradition! Velada is not just about looking back;  It’s about celebrating the present and the future. With every laugh, every dance, and every conversation, we reinforce the ties that bind us together.
